Where do these go?

This past holiday weekend was designed by labor for labor I suppose. My primary goal was finding a good place to mount the rudder pedal assembly. Thanks to some great engineering the Lancair folks made this step relatively easy. Once you figure out which end of the pipe the pedals attach to, you are on your way. The primary concern is making sure the pedals are at the right height (for you) and that the mounting brackets are installed level and strait. You will find only about 1/8" gap between the brackets and the swinging pedals so it has to be strait. On the right side I had to drill a second hole in the firewall to gain better alignment and clearance. As you can see I am using the simplest least expensive pedal alternative. If you are co-piloting, sorry - no brakes! I will however give you a piece of rubber hose to stick over those pipes to protect my paint. In the end what seemed like a big job is relatively strait forward. I have yet to attach the rudder pedals as I need a nicco sleeve crimper to attach the cables. I refuse to buy one for two crimps so that will wait until I can borrow one.
